Marcus Pointer is a Bay Area native and former professional baseball player. “Point,” as he was known to his teammates, was a gritty competitor and a mastermind in the chess match that is the pitcher/batter battle. As a Serra Padre senior Marcus capped off a great career with one of the greatest pitching performances in school history; finishing the season 10-0 and taking home WCAL Pitcher of the Year honors. In Junior College Pointer set a school record with 21 wins and left Skyline as a unanimous conference pitcher of the year and Junior College All-American. Continuing his role as staff ace, Pointer finished his college career starting on Friday nights for the University of the Pacific Tigers. After a couple seasons as a reliever in Independent League Baseball Marcus turned his efforts to coaching at the collegiate level. He is currently an assistant coach at Cañada College and spent last summer coaching the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the Alaska Baseball League. This summer, Marcus is an assistant coach for the Orange County Riptides of the California Collegiate League and will be serving the Church of Baseball primarily as a pitching coach, Collegiate advisor, and content producer.
